Heritage Bank is proud of its southern Minnesota history, rooted in local family ownership. Known as Farmers State Bank from 1930-2018, this community bank originated in West Concord, Minnesota.

In 1966, current owners, Al and Mary Ellen Organ, moved from the Rice Lake, Wisconsin area to West Concord, and Allan began working at the bank that he would eventually buy in 1981. Little did he know that this small town bank would grow to serve not one but multiple communities: West Concord, Dennison, Northfield and Dodge Center.

With growth came the opportunity to make banking a family affair. Two of Allan and Mary Ellen’s three sons, Ken and Erick, currently operate the Northfield and Dennison locations. Ken lives in Northfield, Minnesota, where he has resided for 18 years, while Erick has lived in Berne, Minnesota, east of West Concord, for 17 years.

Today, the bank’s new name, Heritage Bank, reflects the proud history of this community bank and the multigenerational family operation it has become.
